"And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than we believed." Rom. 13:11
We are living in a very unstable world. With the threats of nuclear weapons, wars and possible plans to dissolve the nuclear weapons in other countries, now more than ever we should awake to the condition of our world in which we live. China now has the technology to disable satellites. The doomsday clock was just reset within the last week to "two minutes till midnight," giving a more unstable picture for our world. The sun is setting low in the sky and the Lord Jesus has given his warning to us in His Word about being watchful and ready for His return.
I know that the thought of our world crumbling before our eyes is not a happy one. I am sure it does not make me popular by mentioning this very fact. The truth is, the Word of God is true and His Word will come to pass. The prophecies that the ancient prophets foretold are coming and will continue to unfold before our very eyes whether we want to acknoweldge it or not.
The Bible clearly tells us to be ready, to watch, be sober. We are to make our calling and election sure. The Bible tells us in Matthew chapter 24, that there will be earthquakes in divers places, pestilences(diseases), nation shall rise against nation, great signs shall appear in the sky, yet we are not to fear these things that come if we are christians, but to stand steadfast in the faith and be ready.
We are admonished in Matthew 25, to be as a wise virgin, to have our lamps, which is the Holy Ghost, to be trimmed and full, that when the Bridegroom cometh at midnight, we like the wise virgins, will be ready to meet him. The scriptures state that, half of the virgins were out of oil and needed to go to city to buy some when they heard the call of the Bridegroom. Sadly, they missed Him when he appeared, and so it will be when the Lord Jesus returns for his church if we are not ready to meet him when he calls.
My prayer is that we would read this and take it to heart. Being mindful that our lives are filled with the Holy Ghost and with all prayer and supplication daily walking and living in his Word. Listening for his call when he too shall appear as our Heavenly Bridegroom.
